Senior Engineering Technician

Primary Function of Position:

This position will be responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Engineering team which includes upgrade troubleshooting repair test and calibration. This also requires system technical depth experience and independent decision making and demonstrates competency to perform the duties of a Senior Engineering technician. Ability to coordinate system repairs with other engineering disciplines to limit down time.

Candidates must be highly motivated with a strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate activities with engineers and line supervisors to make sure that each system is in good working order.

• Perform quick triage of the issue and recommend best course of action to limit downtime.
• Perform simple reworks on the spot (cable crimping solder components tap threads clean optics adjust alignments etc.).
• Document all activities in support for our formal records.
• Order parts and assemble/bring up duplicate fixtures for production.

• Assist or execute engineering level tests and collect data to support design of experiment activities or characterize an assembly.
• Assist with parts order build and modification of development fixtures for evaluation.
• Generate or assist on the implementation of Engineering Change orders.
• Follows all corporate safety SOP DOP procedures and regulations.
• Understands problems areas of risk and areas for improvement within work unit including the processes and procedures.
• Perform other engineering technician duties as needed.

Qualifications :

Skill/Job Requirements:

• Significant experience with wiring diagrams schematics assembly drawings fab drawings mechanical drawings.
• Ability to perform complex technical issues on various electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of computers word processing and spreadsheet applications for documentation and data presentation.
• Ability to read modify and execute test scripts use for debug
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to variety of technologies that allow effective troubleshooting. Examples: Digital and Analog Electronics components optical components servo components machined parts sheet metal parts cable assemblies.
• Good communication skills verbal and written to be able to partner effectively with production techs supervisors training department as well as Manufacturing/Design/Test Engineers.
• Proven ability to work well in team environment
• Experience with JIRA Agile and SAP or equivalent tools
• Effectively use of troubleshooting and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes multimeters function generators custom test platforms.
• Document findings of investigation in quality notifications which are part of official Device History Records.
• Electronic and Mechanical assembly skills (Examples: soldering crimping box build fiber handling optical component handling cable routing and use of RTV/epoxy).

Education/Experience:

• AS degree trade school military technical training. B.S. EE/Comp E or equivalent is preferred.
• A minimum of eight years of troubleshooting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role as actual pay will be determined based on several factors including experience skills and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
