Additive AI builds AI-powered tools that automate how tax and accounting firms process complex documents extracting structuring and validating data from tax forms with high accuracy. Its products are used daily by the largest accounting firms in the US.

Founded in San Francisco in 2023 Additive was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2025 and combines startup speed with the reach of a global leader. The team is about 20 people.

Additive is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager (10 years) as a hands-on player-coach leading one of its core engineering teams. You will manage 4-7 senior staff and principal engineers scaling to 10-12 over the next year while contributing directly to the codebase and report to the CTO and co-founder. Everyone ships here including leadership.

• Manage 4-7 staff- and principal-level engineers (growing to 10-12) while writing code reviewing designs and debugging hard problems every week.
• Ship customer-facing eval-driven AI products that turn unstructured tax documents into reliable structured data.
• Develop engineers through direct feedback and coaching and grow future leaders.
• Own hiring onboarding and team growth to build a high-talent-density org.
• Connect engineering decisions to business outcomes with tax professionals and customer-facing teams.

• 10 years of engineering experience including managing senior engineers
• Active hands-on technical contribution as a manager
• Experience shipping AI/ML or document-AI products
• Experience hiring and scaling teams
• Ability to work in the San Francisco office 5 days a week

Python TypeScript cloud infrastructure document AI agentic systems retrieval-based systems

REVENUE: 17.5% of first-year salary. Est. fee per hire $73K-$79K; 1 seat(s).
