This role will be based in Mountain View CA.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer - Commodity / Vendor Management to support sourcing supplier management cost optimization and supply assurance for LinkedIns global datacenter hardware portfolio. This role will work across server and storage commodities including CPU GPU DRAM NAND NVMe/SSD HDD and other critical server components.

In this role you will partner with senior commodity leaders and cross-functional teams to execute commodity and sourcing strategies while developing ownership of assigned commodities and supplier relationships. You will work closely with Hardware Engineering Supply Planning Capacity Planning Finance OxMs and component suppliers to ensure hardware is available at the right cost quality and time to support LinkedIns infrastructure growth.

The ideal candidate combines strong operational execution and analytical skills with the ability to work effectively in a small cross-functional team. They should be comfortable independently driving established operational responsibilities and supplier engagements while partnering with Staff and Senior Staff leaders on broader commodity strategy complex negotiations and ambiguous or high-impact decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Commodity Management and Market Intelligence - Support commodity strategies across CPU GPU DRAM NAND NVMe/SSD HDD and other server components. Track market trends pricing lead times technology transitions and supply conditions and translate these into actionable insights. Develop increasing ownership of assigned commodities and their associated sourcing strategies.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management - Manage operational engagement with commodity suppliers and OxMs including pricing forecasts supply commitments delivery performance and issue resolution. Support QBRs supplier scorecards roadmap discussions and escalations while independently managing supplier relationships within assigned areas.
  • Supply Assurance and Execution - Partner with Supply Planning and suppliers to track demand supply commitments inventory and long-lead components. Identify potential shortages or delivery risks early and independently drive operational actions with internal teams and suppliers through resolution.
  • Cost and Commercial Management - Support sourcing events and commercial negotiations through pricing analysis cost models benchmarks and supplier comparisons. Lead pricing and commercial discussions for assigned areas while partnering with Staff and Senior Staff leaders on larger or more complex negotiations and agreements.
  • NPI and Lifecycle Execution - Partner with Hardware Engineering OxMs and suppliers to support new product introductions from qualification through production ramp. Coordinate component readiness qualification sourcing and supply and support transitions between product generations and EOL components.
  • Quality and Supplier Performance - Track supplier performance across quality delivery cost and responsiveness. Partner with Engineering and suppliers to drive corrective actions for quality RMA reliability or production issues and ensure issues are driven to closure.
  • Cross-Functional Execution - Work effectively within a small cross-functional team across Hardware Engineering Capacity Planning Supply Planning Finance Datacenter Operations OxMs and suppliers. Independently drive assigned workstreams to closure provide clear visibility into cost supply supplier performance and risks and escalate issues requiring broader strategic or leadership decisions.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in commodity management vendor management hardware sourcing supply chain or related roles supporting datacenter or enterprise hardware.
  • Experience working with one or more hardware commodities such as CPU GPU DRAM NAND SSD/NVMe HDD or server platforms.
  • Experience working with suppliers contract manufacturers ODMs/OEMs or global production teams.
  • Experience supporting sourcing pricing negotiations supply planning or supplier performance management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to analyze cost supply demand and supplier performance data.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute operational responsibilities and drive work to closure while working effectively within a small cross-functional team.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering Supply Chain Operations or Finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperscale infrastructure datacenter hardware compute GPU or storage environments.
  • Understanding of semiconductor DRAM/NAND or storage market dynamics and product lifecycles.
  • Experience supporting hardware NPI programs from qualification through production ramp.
  • Experience developing cost models supplier benchmarks and sourcing analyses.
  • Experience independently managing suppliers and driving operational issues through resolution.
  • Experience with ERP solutions hardware PLM tools or supply chain planning systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of defined projects or commodity areas while partnering with senior leaders on broader sourcing and commodity strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate supplier cost and supply risks across cross-functional teams.

The pay range for this role is $109000 to $180000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set depth of experience certifications and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.  

The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus stock benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
