Senior Electronics Technologist

Job Summary
We have an opening for a Senior Electronics Technologist. You will develop test troubleshoot evaluate operate and maintain experimental research and prototype equipment associated with mechanical systems in the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science Directorate (NIF & PS). This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering and Operations (LSEO) Division within the Engineering Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
In this role you will
- Independently deploy troubleshoot assemble and disassemble complex electronic systems including planning and selecting materials equipment and methods.
- Independently identify analyze and provide solutions and alternate approaches to complex problems using individual creativity and judgment.
- Develop author implement assess or modify instructional guides for repairing calibrating operating and maintaining equipment and systems.
- Interpret standards and use advanced technical skills to evaluate and recommend methods and priorities for routine electronics maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Provide advanced technical support for engineering tests physics experiments and program operations.
- Assist in developing complex test parameters troubleshooting and testing materials components or systems identifying problems and providing input on solutions.
- Contribute to complex preliminary design concepts and engineering decision process.
- Prioritize and provide work and technical guidance to others by checking for accuracy completeness and function.
- Plan organize mentor and lead projects of limited scope to meet defined objectives and schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Associate degree in electronics engineering technology or equivalent combination of education and related electronics/electrical industrial maintenance experience.
- Substantial experience and advanced skills in electronic troubleshooting and assembly.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering hardware testing processes.
- Broad experience with some aspect of advanced level electronic assembly troubleshooting installation and/or maintenance.
- Experience in safe work and business practices.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Effective written verbal feedback and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to lift 25 a safe and controlled manner.
Qualifications We Desire
- Bachelors degree in electronics engineering technology or equivalent combination of education and related electronics/electrical industrial maintenance experience.
- Advanced understanding of electronic technology and experience working on a technical project team and providing technical direction to others.
- Advanced technical skills and knowledge of engineering principles to solve complex problems.
Pay Range
$52.23 - $63.97 Hourly
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employees position within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to specific competencies relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority geographic location performance and business or organizational needs.

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.
