Senior Developer

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Developer to help design build and enhance our external customer-facing web portal delivering secure scalable and intuitive digital experiences for our this role you will develop and support high-performance applications that balance reliability usability and maintainability while helping solve complex business challenges. Working closely with business partners architects product teams and fellow engineers you will contribute to solutions that improve customer engagement streamline experiences and support evolving organizational needs. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise sound engineering judgment and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.

WhatYoull Do

• Design develop test and maintain scalable high-availability applications that support mission-critical business operations.

• Build well-structured maintainable and efficient software solutions across front-end back-end and service layers.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Independently perform analysis discovery and technical investigation to identify opportunities risks and recommended approaches.

• Participate in solution design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions that support scalability stability and long-term maintainability.

• Evaluate technology options and provide recommendations regarding build-versus-buy decisions integrations and platform capabilities.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and development issues while communicating effectively with stakeholders vendors and team members.

• Promote code quality through testing code reviews automation and adherence to development best practices.

• Research emerging technologies industry trends and engineering practices to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

• Support application performance reliability security and observability objectives.

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers and other team members.

• Contribute to agile planning activities estimation and delivery commitments.

What You Bring

• Bachelors degree or advanced degree (where required)

• 5 years of experience in related field.

• In lieu of degree 7 years of experience in related field.

Bonus Points

• Experience developing cloud-native applications and services.

• Experience with containerization and modern deployment patterns.

• Experience working in highly regulated industries such as healthcare insurance or financial services.

• Familiarity with application security performance optimization monitoring and observability practices.

Where Youll Work

Our Hybrid Flex approach is built on presence with a purpose giving you flexibility to work remotely with intentional in-person connection that supports a workplace thats flexible connected and future focused.

In a Hybrid-Flex role youll work in the office at least two days a week for collaboration and a Remote Flex role youll work virtually with a few in-office visits each year for meaningful moments that matter.

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed.
