Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will support accurate and timely financial reporting for UPL North America by managing general ledger activities supporting month-end and year-end close assisting with audit requests and maintaining fixed asset and lease accounting records. This role requires strong accounting fundamentals attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP IFRS internal controls and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger and Close Activities
- Prepare review and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP IFRS regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Support month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes with a focus on accuracy timeliness and proper documentation.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations investigate discrepancies and resolve reconciling items.
- Prepare and post prepaid expense accrual and reclassification entries.
- Partner with Treasury on cash reconciliations and related accounting entries.
Audit Support and Compliance
- Coordinate audit support for quarterly reviews and annual audits including preparation of schedules reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Respond to internal and external audit requests accurately and within required deadlines.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance Operations Treasury and other teams to gather documentation and resolve audit questions.
- Support compliance with accounting standards internal controls and company financial policies.
Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting
- Maintain fixed asset accounting records including additions disposals transfers depreciation and related general ledger entries.
- Prepare and maintain depreciation and amortization schedules.
- Record lease accounting entries and reconcile related general ledger accounts.
- Ensure fixed asset and lease accounting activities are properly documented and compliant with applicable accounting standards.
Reporting Analysis and Process Improvement
- Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance reports and provide clear explanations for significant variances.
- Identify opportunities to improve monthly quarterly and annual accounting workflows.
- Support implementation of accounting best practices process improvements and tools that improve accuracy efficiency and control.
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting required.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in general ledger financial reporting audit or a related accounting role.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on SAP experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with month-end close journal entries account reconciliations accruals prepaid expenses and variance analysis.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting depreciation amortization lease accounting or related general ledger activities.
- Experience supporting external audits internal audits or financial control reviews.
- Experience with SAP FI/CO fixed asset modules lease accounting processes or close management tools.
- Strong attention to detail organization follow-through and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical problem-solving critical thinking and communication skills with the ability to understand the why behind accounting processes and reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated learning agility and ability to quickly learn new systems processes accounting requirements and business changes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing agriculture chemical industrial or multi-site business environment.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS exposure preferred.
