The Selective Demolition Foreman leads the safe efficient and precise execution of selective and interior demolition work. This position is responsible for directing field crews coordinating daily work activities maintaining production expectations and ensuring demolition is performed according to project plans specifications sequencing requirements and safety standards.

The Foreman brings strong hands-on knowledge of selective demolition means and methods and understands how to remove designated building components while protecting structures systems finishes and areas intended to remain intact. This role requires the ability to plan work identify changing field conditions coordinate with project leadership and other trades and adjust crew activities to keep work progressing safely and efficiently.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

$87700.00 to $138000.00 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and direct selective demolition crews performing interior and exterior demolition activities including removal of walls ceilings flooring fixtures finishes mechanical and electrical components concrete masonry structural and non-structural elements and other designated materials.
• Review project drawings demolition plans scopes of work specifications and field conditions to understand demolition limits sequencing protection requirements and items designated to remain.
• Plan and communicate daily crew activities work areas equipment and tool needs production expectations material handling and debris removal.
• Coordinate demolition sequencing to maintain efficient workflow while accounting for structural conditions active building systems occupied or adjacent spaces other trades and project-specific constraints.
• Identify and clearly communicate demolition limits to crews including items to be removed salvaged protected or left in place.
• Monitor field conditions throughout demolition activities and stop or redirect work when unexpected structural conditions utilities hazardous materials conflicts or other risks are encountered.
• Direct the safe use of demolition tools and equipment including skid steers compact track loaders mini excavators or similar specialized equipment saws breakers chipping equipment cutting tools and hand and power tools.
• Ensure crews follow required safety procedures task plans hazard controls access restrictions fall protection requirements dust and silica controls and company safety expectations.
• Conduct pre-task planning daily safety discussions job hazard assessments and crew communication before and throughout work activities.
• Monitor crew productivity and work quality adjust labor and equipment resources as needed and communicate production challenges or schedule impacts to project leadership.
• Coordinate material handling sorting salvage recycling and debris removal to maintain safe and organized work areas and support project production.
• Inspect completed demolition areas to confirm work is complete accurate and consistent with project requirements before crews advance to subsequent work.
• Coordinate with Superintendents Project Managers project engineers subcontractors general contractors building representatives and other trades regarding access sequencing shutdowns logistics and changing field conditions.
• Train coach and develop Laborers Operators and Lead personnel in demolition methods equipment use safety expectations production practices and proper protection of existing conditions.
• Maintain accountability for crew performance attendance safe work practices equipment care and adherence to company policies and project requirements.
• Complete required daily documentation including production reporting timekeeping equipment information safety documentation and field records.
• Promote a professional safety-focused work environment and consistently demonstrate company expectations for leadership communication accountability and teamwork.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Significant hands-on experience performing selective interior commercial industrial or similar demolition work with demonstrated experience planning and executing demolition work involving multiple building materials systems equipment and tool types and changing site conditions.
• Demonstrated experience leading field crews with responsibility for safety productivity quality equipment and daily work execution.
• Experience reading construction drawings identifying demolition limits planning work sequences and coordinating demolition activities with other construction operations.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with demonstrated ability to engage and develop teams manage conflict solve problems and communicate effectively with diverse personalities.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to understand project budgets schedules priorities and milestones; coordinate and delegate multiple activities; and maintain effective organization documentation and communication.
• Superior work ethic with the willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands and the ability to set the example of work ethic for the rest of the crew and lead from the front.
• Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills with the ability to build trust proactively communicate concerns remain calm and professional under pressure and effectively navigate challenging situations with internal and external partners.

• Ability to maintain a valid drivers license and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with Company standards and insurance requirements.

Preferred

• OSHA 30 Construction certification preferred or required within a company-established timeframe.
• Competent Person training or demonstrated knowledge applicable to assigned demolition activities preferred.
• Additional training or certifications related to silica fall protection aerial lifts forklifts rigging first aid/CPR or other applicable construction activities preferred.
• Understanding of budget project principles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co-workers customers and the general public.

MATH SKILLS

This job requires the ability to understand and execute basic math equations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work functions require the physical ability and mobility to safely walk in active demolition sites and undeveloped project grounds as well as to sit stand and ride in vehicles for long periods of time as well as the physical ability and mobility to repeatedly push pull and climb repeatedly to access equipment modify attachments and control cabin. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time as well as to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed on active construction and demolition sites in both indoor and outdoor environments. Conditions may include exposure to dust debris noise vibration varying temperatures uneven surfaces confined or restricted work areas heavy equipment and changing site conditions. The role requires regular interaction with crews equipment contractors and other trades and may involve work at heights or in occupied or partially occupied facilities. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and strict adherence to company and site-specific safety requirements is expected.
