What Youll Do

The Y-12 Security Systems Department provides life-cycle management of all physical security systems for classified matter and special nuclear material. The goal of the department is to ensure continued operability of the Y-12 security systems and continuously seek innovative solutions to improve the reliability and efficiency of the systems. This role involves managing planning and scheduling Physical Security Systems personnel to ensure the efficient installation integration and maintenance of physical security assets and supporting the successful and timely completion of assigned missions projects and lifecycle management in accordance with government and company directives.

Security Systems researches develops designs and specifies tests of electrical components equipment systems and networks. The successful candidate will manage the Y-12 Security Systems Department using engineering principles for the design configuration management performance assurance and compliance of each assigned security system. The new manager will track and schedule lifecycle replacements for key systems and site outages that impact Security related systems.

The Security Systems Manager will ensure operational readiness; performance testing; preventive and corrective maintenance execution; self-assessment programs; and upgrade or system replacement recommendations. The department ensures the protective systems meet the performance requirements defined in the Y-12 Site Safeguards and Security Plan while ensuring the systems are compliant with applicable government directives.

The incumbent will monitor metrics to track and trend performance indicators and will execute appropriate assessments to demonstrate system readiness. The successful bidder will be responsible to ensure that around-the-clock technical support is provided for assigned systems off normal events are reviewed/resolved and corrective actions to maintain optimum operability are initiated. This position must interface with multiple organizations to include the NNSA Field Office Vulnerability Assessment Infrastructure & Services Engineering Cyber Security Project Management and Production.

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelors degre and minimum 7 years of relevant experience
OR Associates degree and minimum 11 years of relevant experience
OR 15 years relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Preferred Job Requirements

Bachelors degree preferably in Electrical Engineering
Requires an understanding of physical/alarm security systems
Excellent verbal written and presentation communication skills are required
Experience and training in management electrical engineering security systems domain experience configuration management and assessments is preferred
Knowledge of the Y-12 facility and the process associated with the plant as well as knowledge of the CNS Y-12 and NNSA/DOE security procedures/regulations is desired
Experience with technical standards the design development and implementation of hardware and software solutions is a plus

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712) which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
