Founded in 1910 Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital is a 229-bed acute care nonprofit hospital located in Bakersfield California. Serving nearly 90000 patients annually the hospital offers a full complement of services including Level II NICU cancer care womens health and orthopedics. Additionally Mercy Hospital Downtown & Mercy Hospital Southwest have been recognized as an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. As our Security Officer NB you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas diligently deterring detecting and investigating suspicious activity or crime.

Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems dispatch appropriate personnel via radio and actively patrol to protect individuals and property all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate exceptional vigilance strong observational skills proficiency in electronic surveillance and dispatch systems and a commitment to protecting our community while upholding our organizational values and contributing to a secure environment.

• Protecting staff patients and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients visitors crimes committed or in progress or to emergency codes and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures equipment and supplies including of radios and hospital codes.
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches conducts investigations and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear concise legible and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to right location. Keeping the organizations mission vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action.

• High School Graduate or GED
• Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting Law enforcement or military service or
• One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
• Security Guard: CA
• AHA Basic Life Support - CPR within 90 Days
• Drivers License: CA
