One of our government clients is seeking an experienced Security Guard Unarmed to provide institutional security services at a state mental health facility.

Schedule: Day Shift (6:00 PM - 7:30 AM) 3 days per week. The first 2-3 weeks will be 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday with the exception of Week 1 (Monday and Friday for Human Resources). The employee will then transition to the 6:00 PM - 7:30 AM schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision the employee is responsible for institutional and related security work of average difficulty and performs related work as required.
- An employee in this class may be assigned to work any shift to provide a full range of institutional and other security activities such as protecting public buildings.
- Assists in Admissions with processing patients (i.e. wanding with a metal detector pat downs etc.). Responsible for reviewing and documenting the patients belongings.
- Responds to calls and take appropriate action to assist in emergencies.
- May be required to respond to Code Situations. Controls entrance and exit of individuals by checking for identity purpose of visit and authorization. Escorts individuals to ensure their safety.
- Prepares and maintains records such as incident reports vehicle citations logs of visitors and others and personal property reports.
- Provides information to supervisor by telephone in written form e-mail or in-person to advise of any security concerns.
- Communicates with law enforcement agencies to report incidents provide information and request assistance.
- Patrols facilities monitors alarms and utilizes audiovisual and security systems (e.g. TV monitors) to check for security hazards disturbances and violations of pertinent laws rules or regulations.
- Visually monitors individuals to ensure safety and compliance with policies rules and regulations.
- Operates patrol and transport vehicles to complete security patrols or transport valuables and individuals. Operates two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks.
Primary Duties:
- Assist Admissions with processing patients including security screenings metal detector wanding pat downs and documenting patient belongings.

- Communicate security concerns to supervisors and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.

- Monitor individuals to ensure safety and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Operate patrol and transport vehicles.
- Operate two-way radios and other communication devices.
Secondary Duties:
- Perform related institutional security duties as assigned.
- Provide security support for public buildings and facility operations.
- Maintain accurate security documentation and records.
- Support emergency response activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
- Qualifying full-time law enforcement security or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- A valid motor vehicle operators license may be required for employment in some positions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in institutional hospital or public building security.
- Experience working with law enforcement agencies.
- Experience operating surveillance systems alarms and communication equipment.
- Experience preparing security reports and documentation.
