Job Summary
GI Federal is seeking a Secretary V to provide support to the Criminal Division (CRM) of the Department of Justice in Washington DC.

.Partner with the HR Specialist to facilitate the retrieval interpretation and submission of visual data from non accessible programs and sources including but not limited to HR tracking systems performance management portals and HR software. Enters data and submits administrative requests as directed by the HR Specialist.
.Translate electronic and print information into accessible formats for the HR Specialists review. Sources include but are not limited to policy documents printed materials handwritten records and online and print research. Conducts targeted internet research and keyword searches in print and electronic documents and compiles contextual information as directed to streamline the Specialists review process.
.Collaborate on written products including but not limited to documents presentations and correspondence by reviewing visual layouts spacing and formatting prior to submission. Assists in drafting and proofreading correcting typographical or formatting inconsistencies and ensuring polished professional products.
.Accompany the HR Specialist to meetings to provide visual descriptions of meeting materials and room dynamics (such as attendance and participation cues) and records official minutes or action items. When directed assist with the technical aspects of presentations including displaying visual aids and advancing slides to ensure smooth presentation delivery.
.Handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII) with the utmost discretion adhering strictly to federal confidentiality and privacy protocols.
Assistance
.Meal and Break Facilitation: When directed by the HR Specialist assist during meals and break periods to ensure equal access to workplace amenities. This includes but is not limited to reading menus assisting with food or beverage preparation (such as reading instructions on packaging) and retrieving food or beverage orders when requested.
Professional Presentation Facilitation: Partner with the HR Specialist to ensure a polished professional appearance throughout the workday. This includes but is not limited to providing discrete objective visual feedback regarding attire and grooming and assisting with quick resolutions such as utilizing stain removal pens or wipes
Workplace Logistics and Engagement: Partner with the HR Specialist to facilitate smooth participation in workplace events and social activities. This includes but is not limited to assisting with physical navigation in crowded or dynamic spaces helping facilitate engagement in team-building activities and reading and transcribing handwritten notes or messages as directed.
Incident and Adaptive Logistics Support: Provide physical assistance with organizing retrieving or managing personal belongings adaptive equipment or specialized technology (e.g. setting up braille displays organizing tactile labeling systems or plugging in charging cables).
Minor Environmental Adjustments: Assist with immediate physical workspace adjustments to ensure non-medical comfort and safety such as but not limited to adjusting desk lighting regulating thermostat settings managing window blinds or clearing unexpected physical hazards or clutter from walkways.
Material Management and Retrieval: Facilitate the HR Specialists workday continuity by retrieving printed materials supplies and other items as directed within and in the vicinity of the work location during standard work hours.
Facilities Access Support: Provide non-medical environmental support to ensure safe and efficient access to workplace facilities. This includes but is not limited to guiding the employee to restrooms break rooms and wellness rooms; verifying the cleanliness availability and layout of these facilities; and assisting with the physical manipulation of non-accessible fixtures (e.g. heavy doors poorly placed soap dispensers or complex security badge scanners).
Navigation and Travel Support
Environmental Orientation: Assist the HR Specialist in orienting to and navigating federal buildings training centers conference venues and work-related social venues to ensure seamless mobility. This includes but is not limited to assisting with arrival and departure logistics from work and work-related social locations (e.g. identifying vehicles building entrances elevators) and assisting the HR Specialist in safely navigating emergency evacuations.
Comprehensive TDY and Travel Support: Contingent on the HR Specialist being assigned official temporary duty (TDY) travel). Accompany the HR Specialist and ensures an accessible seamless and professional travel experience. Act as a continuous logistical resource executing a wide variety of both professional and personal assistance tasks as they arise. This includes facilitating physical transit through airports and train stations managing lodging and venue navigation assisting with dining logistics and providing the environmental orientation necessary to ensure the employees autonomy and equal access throughout the duration of the travel status.
There may be other duties as assigned.
.Ability to read aloud and occasionally interpret complex technical HR terminology guidelines and legal texts clearly accurately and at a pace that supports a collaborative and efficient workflow.
.Skill in utilizing standard office technology and productivity software including but not limited to the Microsoft 365 application suite and Adobe Acrobat to format documents input data and convert physical media into accessible digital formats. Knowledge and familiarity with assistive technology such as Freedom Scientifics Fusion and HumanWares Kurzweil 1000 is a plus.
.Demonstrated willingness and flexibility to perform a diverse blend of professional administrative duties and personal assistance tasks (including non-medical daily living supports) seamlessly throughout the workday adapting quickly to the changing immediate needs of the employee.
.Knowledge of or willingness to be trained in standard human guide (sighted guide) techniques to ensure safe comfortable and dignified physical navigation in various environments.
.Exceptional interpersonal skills emotional intelligence and professional boundary management to work effectively in a non-medical peer-support capacity combined with absolute discretion regarding privacy and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
.Dependability physical stamina and flexibility to facilitate environmental navigation mobility and physical access logistics in both the primary workplace and official travel settings.
.Ability to successfully complete a CGI Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal Education Employment Credit and Driving Records Checks
.Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Justice Modified Risk Public Trust waiver
Hourly Rate: $30.96/hour
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to: skill set level relevant experience and training and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
