The Scientist II is responsible as follows for the following:

  • Prepare assay reagents buffers probe solutions and microplates according to established procedures.
  • Perform serial dilutions concentration adjustments and sample preparation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Operate and maintain automated liquid handling platforms to support high-throughput workflows.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment reagents consumables and inventory.
  • Operate plate readers HPLC LC-MS and other analytical instrumentation to perform quality control testing data analysis and sample characterization.
  • Perform PCR-based quality control testing and follow applicable SOPs laboratory safety requirements and quality system procedures.
  • Collect analyze interpret and present experimental data to support process development technical decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support NGS workflows including sample preparation library preparation quantification quality assessment and sequencing-related activities.
  • Support as needed feasibility studies proof-of-concept experiments and technology evaluations for new products and workflows.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support project objectives and deliverables.
  • Participate in process improvement laboratory automation initiatives root cause investigations and troubleshooting efforts to improve laboratory efficiency robustness and data quality.
  • Partner with scientists and engineers to evaluate implement and optimize new laboratory technologies and workflows.
  • Support next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows and expand knowledge of sequencing technologies and applications.
  • Contribute to the research development optimization and validation of laboratory workflows and analytical methods.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education training and relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience in laboratory techniques such as pipetting solution preparation and dilution calculations.
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation data management practices and data interpretation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with using analytical equipment such as UV plate reader qPCR pH/conductivity meter HPLC LC-MS GC-MS etc.
  • Experience operating automated liquid handling systems (Hamilton preferred).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and following controlled procedures.
  • Experience supporting NGS workflows including library preparation and sequencing sample processing.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel JMP or Minitab.
  • Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) for documentation of experimental procedures and results.

The annual salary range for this role is $93000 to $128000 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.


This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
