Job Summary
The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There are currently multiple positions open in our Transportation Department. These are 7 hour/day 11 month positions. The District and CSEA recognize the importance of providing safe transportation for students to and from home and school-related events. To assist with filling School Bus Driver vacancies the District will include a hiring incentive to help with recruitment and hiring. The incentive is currently being offered until June 2027 as follows: Licensed School Bus Drivers (Candidates who possess California Class B Drivers License and a valid School Bus Driver Certificate.) **$3000 incentive paid in the following installments ($1500 in the month following completion of probation; $1500 in the month following the first anniversary)- Initial salary placement will be at least Step 3 Salary Range 22School Bus Driver Trainees (Candidates who do not possess the required licenses and need to complete training in order to become a licensed School Bus Driver.) - Prospective School Bus Drivers will be offered the opportunity to apply for a Sub Van Driver position and train around their work schedule.- School Bus Driver Classroom Training will include a stipend of $400 (paid in the month following) when the trainee receives their DMV permit. School Bus Driver Behind the Wheel Training will include a stipend of $400 (paid in the month following) when the trainee has passed the CHP School Bus Driver Drive Test**$3000 incentive paid in installments (see above)
Training and ExperienceAny combination of education training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year experience in the operation of a motor and CertificatesValid California Drivers License Class A or B with a passenger and air brake California School Bus Drivers of a valid Medical Certificate approved by the Department of Motor Vehicles or the Federal Highway Administration of the US Department of Transportation
Knowledge of Proper operations of school and defensive driving methods and applicable provisions of the California Vehicle Code Code of Regulations and Education mechanical characteristics of district geographical District and site policies procedures and objectives of assigned program and operation of two-way health and safety regulations safety precautions and first aid and written communication lifting record-keeping computer skills using tact patience and toDrive a school bus safely and and observe legal and defensive driving and follow designated a safe discipline level among safety inspections and perform routine preventative bus in clean and safe working and maintain simple records and and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with in loading and unloading students as a two-way schedules and effectively both orally and in follow and carry out oral and written with diverse groups and individuals.
