Scale House Operator

The Scale House Operator is responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound vehicles maintaining scale records processing transactions and providing excellent customer service. This position serves as the primary point of contact for drivers customers and vendors ensuring compliance with company policies environmental regulations and safety procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate truck scales to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
• Record verify and process weight data using computerized scale software.
• Generate scale tickets invoices receipts and other documentation.
• Inspect and verify shipping and receiving documents for accuracy.
• Communicate with drivers customers dispatchers and site personnel regarding load information and site procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of materials received shipped or disposed of.
• Monitor scale equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Ensure compliance with company policies safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Answer phones respond to customer inquiries and perform general administrative duties.
• Balance daily transactions and prepare reports as required.
• Assist with inventory tracking and reconciliation of material quantities.
• Maintain a clean organized and professional scale house environment.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous administrative customer service cashier or scale operation experience preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong mathematical and data entry skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and confidential information.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating computer systems.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions depending on facility operations.
• Ability to frequently communicate with drivers and site personnel.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with truck scale systems and weighing software.
• Knowledge of transportation construction waste management recycling quarry or aggregate operations.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and shipping documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and customer service abilities.
