Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Automation & AI Engineer with experience in SAP Basis administration automation and Linux/Unix environments. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on SAP Basis expertise with a passion for automation and emerging technologies. This role will focus on automating repetitive SAP Basis activities reducing manual intervention improving operational efficiency and leveraging Ansible Python Linux shell scripting and AI tools to modernize SAP operations. The successful candidate will also be a strong team player who enjoys sharing knowledge collaborating with others and helping team members develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design develop implement and maintain automation solutions for SAP Basis operations.
• Identify repetitive manual and error-prone SAP Basis tasks and develop automation to minimize human intervention.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks roles modules and automation workflows for SAP environments.
• Develop robust Linux/Unix shell scripts to automate SAP administration system health checks monitoring maintenance deployments housekeeping and operational activities.
• Use Python to develop automation tools scripts utilities integrations and APIs.
• Make extensive use of Linux shell scripting such as Bash to automate complex SAP Basis and operating-system-level tasks.
• Design reusable shell scripts that can be integrated with Ansible and other enterprise automation frameworks.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Linux-based automation and scripting solutions.
• Explore and apply AI and Generative AI tools to improve SAP operations troubleshooting monitoring documentation scripting and automation.
• Investigate opportunities to use AI-assisted solutions to reduce operational effort and improve the speed and consistency of SAP support.
• Automate activities such asSAP system health checks;System monitoring and validation;Start/stop procedures;Log analysis;Housekeeping;File-system checks and management;SAP parameter and configuration checks;Routine maintenance activities;System availability checks;Reporting and operational dashboards; and Repetitive troubleshooting and remediation activities
• Work closely with SAP Basis engineers and other IT teams to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
• Develop reusable automation components and establish automation standards and best practices.
• Maintain source code and automation assets using Git or other version-control systems.
• Troubleshoot SAP Linux scripting and automation-related issues.
• Document automation solutions scripts processes and operational procedures.
• Actively share technical knowledge and best practices with team members.
• Mentor and assist colleagues in learning SAP Basis Linux scripting Ansible Python and automation technologies.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identify new opportunities to reduce manual operational effort.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 8 years of professional experience in SAP Basis administration and operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP Basis in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience working with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Strong Linux shell scripting experience particularly Bash.
• Demonstrated ability to write maintain troubleshoot and optimize complex Linux shell scripts.
• Experience using shell scripting to automate SAP Basis and operating-system-level activities.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible including playbooks roles variables handlers and automation workflows.
• Good programming and scripting experience with Python.
• Experience integrating Linux shell scripts Python and Ansible to build end-to-end automation solutions.
• Understanding of SAP system architecture administration monitoring troubleshooting and operational processes.
• Experience working with APIs and system integrations.
• Familiarity with AI tools and Generative AI particularly their application to software development scripting troubleshooting and IT automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience developing automation specifically for SAP Basis operations.

Success in this role means significantly reducing the amount of manual and repetitive work performed by SAP Basis engineers through reliable scalable and reusable automation.

The engineer will combine SAP Basis knowledge Linux shell scripting Ansible Python and AI technologies to build automation that improves operational efficiency consistency and reliability.

Beyond individual automation projects this person will help establish a culture of automation and knowledge sharing within the SAP Basis organization enabling team members to learn new technologies and continuously improve the way SAP environments are managed.
