Position Summary

The Sandblaster or Sandblast Operator performs abrasive blasting and surface preparation on metal and other materials to remove rust scale paint and contaminants prior to coating welding fabrication or finishing operations. The role requires safe operation of blasting equipment quality inspection and adherence to production schedules and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment safely and efficiently

• Prepare surfaces by removing rust paint mill scale and other contaminants

• Inspect workpieces and verify surface preparation requirements are met

• Select appropriate blasting media equipment settings and protective gear

• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance

• Follow work instructions quality standards and production schedules

• Comply with all environmental health and safety requirements

• Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment

• Maintain a clean and organized work area using 6S principles

• Document work progress in CMMS and communicate work status to business partners

• Other duties as assigned

Personal Attributes and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous experience in sandblasting manufacturing fabrication or industrial painting preferred

• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures

• Ability to use measuring and inspection tools

• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Strong safety awareness.

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Hourly Rate: $24.00/hr $1/50/hr shift differential

Hours: Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm - 6:30am

Work Environment

While performing the functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel handle or operate objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and PPE including NIOSH approved Type 1 Class C respirator protective suits gloves and hearing protection is required. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 requirements include close vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
