A Sales Engineer is required for a technical sales position covering the Virginia territory with a strong focus on new business development consultative selling and managing opportunities from lead generation through to close.

The Sales Engineer will work independently across the territory developing new customers building relationships and providing technical sales support throughout the sales process.

This position would suit a proven technical or engineered sales professional with a consistent record of sales achievement. Industrial machinery sales experience would be particularly advantageous.

The Sales Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer / Direct Sales Engineer Role:

• Generate develop and close new sales opportunities across Virginia.
• Develop new business and build long-term customer relationships.
• Deliver consultative technical sales support to customers.
• Manage opportunities throughout the complete sales process.
• Prepare sales proposals and follow up consistently with prospective customers.
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline and manage territory activity independently.
• Travel regularly throughout the Virginia territory to develop customer relationships and new opportunities.

Sales Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer / Direct Sales Engineer Requirements:

• Minimum three years of technical or engineered sales experience.
• Experience as a Sales Engineer Technical Sales Engineer Direct Sales Engineer Business Development Manager Technical Sales Representative or similar technical sales professional.
• At least two years of consistent sales achievement.
• Demonstrable new business development experience.
• Ability to work independently and manage a sales territory.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.

Industrial machinery sales experience is preferred. Knowledge of industrial or commercial steam systems controls and thermodynamics would be advantageous as would Salesforce or similar CRM/ERP experience.
