Unit Notes
- Unit: ICU- Intensive Care Unit
- # beds: 32 all private rooms
- Certs: BLS ACLS NIHSS 2 yrs of ICU 1 yr travel-required. Prefer- EKG basic dysrhymia course pharmacology TNCC.
- Ratios: 1:2 unless high acuity then 1:1
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Shift manager- doesnt take patient load
- Nurse Aides: None
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: 2/3 holidays
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Tele/Monitor Techs: Nihon Kohden monitors at bedside- must read and interpret own strips
- Drips: Cardizem dobutamine dopamine TPA all critical gtts
- Vents: Yes
- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: yes - 24/7
- IV Team: No
- RT 24/7: Yes
- Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
- Shifts: 12 hr shifts- 7a 7p
--Scheduling-Travelers work with their respective shift manager for scheduling. Self scheduling is acceptable on a new schedule but when added to a current schedule theyre plugged in where needed.
- Floating: Yes- to Tele or (ER for holds-but rare)
- Floor specific orientation: If Cerner experience- then 2 days of floor orientation
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Trauma GSW Severe head trauma stab wounds CABG IABP CHF GI Bleed DKA large homeless population Stroke-TPA Long bone fractures GI surgeries Major transfusions Titrate gtts.
- Additional Notes: Sheath pulling experience preferred bedside report is an expectation. Looking for self confident nurses. FYI- staff are a little tougher lots of Filipino staff members. Be familiar with prophyactic bundle for stroke and cardiac patients ABCDE bundle(bundle to improve vent. Weaning delirium and mobility in the ICU) and VAP (ventilator-associated pneumonia) bundle.
