Position Summary:The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric ICU is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The nurse receives assistance from the full scope of nursing expertise. The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the critically ill neonatal/infant pediatric and adolescent a competency based formal orientation competence and performance is expected. This includes general nursing skills related to the neonatal/infant pediatric and adolescent patient as out-lined in the Orientation Skills checklist. Cares for critically ill patients with diagnoses of medical trauma Neuro and open heart surgical RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules.
