Overview
The Manager-Operations will serve as an integral role in assisting Mercy in developing and implementation of strategic initiatives as assigned by Senior Leadership.
Responsible for management of a variety of programs and projects the manager will work closely alongside operational leaders and front line managers to support operations achievement of strategic addition the manager will consistently measure targets success achievement etc.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager serves as a key member of the Pediatrics leadership team supporting strategic operational and performance-driven initiatives across Mercy Hospital St. Louis Pediatrics. This position partners with physicians clinical leaders operational leaders and frontline managers to advance departmental goals improve efficiency optimize resources and ensure successful execution of strategic priorities. Work to streamline phone triage for pediatrics calls.

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating complex projects managing operational programs supporting performance improvement efforts facilitating leadership communication and monitoring key metrics to ensure achievement of organizational objectives. This role acts as a trusted operational partner driving accountability collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the pediatric service line.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Project Management
  • Facilitate and manage strategic initiatives operational projects and organizational priorities assigned by senior leadership.
  • Support development and implementation of short- and long-term strategic plans for the Pediatric service line.
  • Monitor project progress through appropriate tracking reporting and accountability mechanisms.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule within established parameters and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular status updates and recommendations to leadership regarding project performance and outcomes.
Operational Leadership
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical leaders to identify opportunities for improved efficiency quality and patient experience.
  • Assist leadership in achieving financial operational and quality performance targets.
  • Support implementation of organizational priorities and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements that positively impact patient care productivity quality and cost management.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends risks and opportunities.
Performance Improvement & Lean Management
  • Partner with Lean and Strategic Initiatives leadership on Management Daily Improvement (MDI) communication implementation and sustainability efforts.
  • Support continuous process improvement activities across pediatric operations.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams in identifying operational challenges and developing effective solutions.
  • Assist leaders in implementing performance improvement strategies and tracking measurable outcomes.
Leadership Support & Communication
  • Coordinate and facilitate leadership meetings retreats strategic planning sessions and operational forums.
  • Lead and/or coordinate assigned committees task forces and departmental initiatives.
  • Develop presentations executive summaries dashboards and reports for senior leadership hospital administration and other organizational stakeholders.
  • Assist with educational opportunities leadership development initiatives and communication programs as needed.
Administrative Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned administrative functions.
  • Supervise administrative support staff within the Pediatrics administrative office ensuring adherence to department and hospital policies.
  • Ensure effective coordination of administrative resources and operational workflows.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation reporting and project records.
Relationship Management
  • Build strong working relationships with physicians advanced practice providers directors managers and caregivers.
  • Serve as a professional representative of Mercy and the Pediatrics service line.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration accountability innovation and service excellence.
  • Facilitate communication between operational clinical and executive leadership teams.
Compliance & Professional Standards
  • Ensure compliance with all Mercy policies procedures regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business and patient information.
  • Adhere to infection prevention safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Maintain professional appearance conduct attendance and behavior consistent with Mercy values.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of healthcare operations experience required.
  • Experience supporting operational initiatives project management or performance improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Nursing experience highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal written and presentation communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with leaders at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel PowerPoint and database management tools.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and attention to detail.
  • Professional presence and ability to represent the organization effectively.
Licensure/Certification
  • No licensure or certifications required.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Healthcare Administration Public Health Management or a related healthcare field preferred.
Experience
  • Experience in pediatric healthcare operations preferred.
  • Experience supporting hospital or physician practice operations preferred.
  • Experience with Lean management process improvement or strategic planning initiatives preferred.
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports presentations and operational dashboards preferred.
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare finance budgeting and operational performance metrics.
  • Understanding of hospital operations clinical workflows and healthcare regulations.
  • Strong facilitation and meeting management skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary workgroups and organizational initiatives.
