Position: 5G/6G Wireless Communications Research Scientist

Location: Ann Arbor MI

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Industry: Automotive R&D

Travel: Domestic and international travel for 3GPP standardization meetings

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to 3GPP 5G/6G standardization including areas such as Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)

• Develop and submit 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 technical contributions

• Participate in 3GPP RAN standardization meetings

• Conduct research and development in wireless communications for connected mobility

• Propose and lead research projects with internal and external collaboration partners

• Develop invention disclosures and contribute to patent activities

• Prepare academic publications based on research outcomes

• Contribute to other standards and industry consortia such as SAE ETSI IEEE 802 5GAA and AECC

• Present research findings to technical teams and management

Qualifications :

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Telecommunications or a related field

• Research and development experience in wireless communications

• Strong knowledge of 4G LTE / 5G NR

• Strong understanding of wireless communications at Layer 1 (PHY) and Layer 2

• Previous experience contributing to 3GPP standardization preferably RAN1

• Strong patent/invention record related to 4G LTE and/or 5G NR

• Experience in vehicular communications V2X connected mobility and/or ISAC is highly preferred

• Strong research technical writing and presentation skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for standardization meetings
