The Opportunity
We have an opportunity available for a Research Fellow Data Scientist to join the Professor Stamatakis research program and contribute to the advancement of digital health and data science capability within an internationally connected research program with a focus on wearables data processing pipelines machine learning and generative AI applied to physical activity and sleep research. The position will contribute to the development of an AI-based behaviour change tool and support data-sharing IT infrastructure while contributing to research publications grant applications and collaborations with leading academic and external partners.
The position will develop and validate wearable data algorithms software tools and pipelines supporting large-scale multi-cohort research. It will contribute to the ProPASS federated data analysis platform including testing documentation quality assurance and partner onboarding. The role will apply machine learning and generative AI including LLM-based conversational AI and translate technical capabilities through workshops stakeholder engagement and research outputs.
We are seeking someone with a doctoral qualification in data science computer science biomedical engineering statistics or a related quantitative discipline or equivalent qualifications or research experience. You will bring demonstrated skills in statistical analysis research publication and proposal preparation together with knowledge and experience in machine learning generative AI or LLM-based systems cloud computing and the design and validation of algorithms for high-volume quantitative or sensor-derived data.
Experience with wearable data health or population health research federated data environments data security and governance will be also be highly regarded alongside strong communication organisational and collaborative skills.
