Position Summary

The Repair Technician is responsible for troubleshooting repairing reworking testing and documenting Televic Rail electronic and electromechanical products including customer-returned products as well as printed circuit boards (PCBs) assemblies and units that require repair during production assembly or testing.

Working within the Sacramento production and assembly environment the Repair Technician identifies the cause of product failures performs appropriate repairs and rework and verifies that repaired products meet applicable functional and quality requirements.

This position works closely with Production Quality Engineering and Customer Service to support timely repairs maintain accurate repair records and identify recurring product or component issues that may require further technical review.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose failures in customer-returned products and in PCBs assemblies and units that fail during production assembly or testing.

• Use schematics wiring diagrams technical documentation test procedures multimeters oscilloscopes and other appropriate diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine required repairs.

• Perform electronic and electromechanical repairs including component replacement soldering desoldering rework crimping cable and connector repair and other corrective work as required.

• Perform functional testing following repair to verify proper operation and compliance with applicable specifications and quality requirements.

• Install or work with firmware and software as required for product troubleshooting repair and testing.

• Accurately document failures troubleshooting performed repairs completed components replaced and final test results in applicable systems and records.

• Maintain appropriate traceability and follow established procedures for customer-returned products and internally identified product failures.

• Identify recurring failures unusual product conditions or repair trends and communicate findings to Quality Engineering Production Customer Service or other appropriate team members.

• Escalate complex technical issues when additional engineering or product expertise is required.

• Maintain tools test equipment repair materials and the repair work area in a safe and organized condition.

• Follow applicable ESD safety quality and workmanship standards.

• Provide technical support to production and assembly activities as needed.

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to repair processes product quality efficiency and customer satisfaction.

• Perform other related duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Technical or vocational training in electronics electrical technology mechatronics or a related field preferred.

• Relevant hands-on electronics troubleshooting and repair experience may substitute for formal technical education.

• Previous experience in electronics assembly testing troubleshooting repair rework or a similar technical environment preferred.

• Experience repairing electronic or electromechanical products in a manufacturing transportation industrial communications or similar environment is a plus.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Working knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components and assemblies.

• Ability to systematically troubleshoot and identify the source of equipment PCB component or assembly failures.

• Ability to read and interpret schematics wiring diagrams technical drawings work instructions and repair documentation.

• Ability to use electronic diagnostic and test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes.

• Soldering desoldering rework crimping and connector repair skills.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Ability to accurately document troubleshooting activities repairs and test results.

• Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic records technical documentation and business systems.

• Ability to follow established procedures while exercising sound judgment during troubleshooting and repair.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production Quality Engineering Customer Service and other team members.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform detailed bench work involving electronic and electromechanical components.

• Ability to use hand tools soldering equipment and electronic test equipment safely and effectively.

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing repair assembly and testing activities.

• Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements associated with electronics repair and assembly.

• Ability to lift and move materials components and equipment consistent with the requirements of the production and repair environment with assistance when appropriate.
