Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Peri-Anesthesia Unit (PANU) at Baystate Medical Center (BMC) in Springfield Massachusetts. As western Massachusettss premier healthcare provider and home to Baystate Medical Center a Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and supporting professional nursing practice.

Our PANU team provides specialized pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for adult and pediatric surgical patients undergoing a wide range of procedures. Nurses work closely with surgeons anesthesiologists CRNAs perioperative staff and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe high-quality care throughout the surgical experience.

This per diem opportunity offers experienced nurses the chance to work in a fast-paced high-acuity surgical environment supporting the regions only Level I Trauma Center while maintaining scheduling flexibility. Youll collaborate with a highly skilled team dedicated to clinical excellence patient safety and outstanding patient outcomes.

• Assess plan implement and evaluate nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients.
• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia.
• Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical evaluation.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with surgeons anesthesia providers and multidisciplinary team members.
• Ensure safe patient transitions throughout the perioperative continuum of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Promote patient safety quality outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum one (1) year of RN experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Previous PACU Pre-Op Peri-Anesthesia Critical Care Emergency Department Surgical Services or ICU experience preferred.
• ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
• Strong assessment critical thinking communication and collaboration skills.
