The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in a surgical setting ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes during perioperative procedures. This role involves patient assessments medication administration collaboration with the surgical team and adherence to hospital protocols. The nurse must have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment. A minimum of two years of nursing experience and required certifications are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
Provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs before during and after surgery.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with surgeons anesthesiologists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety.
Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records (EPIC system experience required).
Participate in post-shift call duties as scheduled to support unit needs.
Float between like units as needed to support staffing requirements.
Required Skills & Certifications:
Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferably in acute care or surgical settings.
Current ACLS and BCLS certifications.
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
Strong clinical assessment medication administration and treatment planning skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Experience specifically in Operating Room nursing.
Ability to accommodate block scheduling as per manager discretion.
Special Considerations:
Post-shift call required once per week from 1900 to 2300 with possible extension to meet unit needs.
Scheduling preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed.
Requests for scheduling due to additional employment will not be accommodated.
Floating between similar units is expected as needed.
Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission.
Scheduling:
Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday scheduled as needed.
Shift assignments and hours are determined by unit needs and manager discretion.
Guaranteed hours with the facility able to call off once per two-week pay period.
