The Registered Nurse in the NICU at the Pacific Campus provides specialized nursing care for neonates including those born at 22 weeks and greater gestation with conditions such as prematurity bronchopulmonary dysplasia and risk for alteration of nutrition. The role involves managing patients requiring conventional ventilators oscillators bubble CPAP and high flow nasal cannula. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care in a Level II NICU setting ensuring strong communication and clinical expertise. At least 2 years of NICU experience is required with flexibility for float assignments to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum units.
Responsibilities:
Provide skilled nursing care to neonates in a Level II NICU environment.
Perform patient assessments monitor vital signs and manage respiratory support devices including conventional ventilators oscillators bubble CPAP and high flow nasal cannula.
Conduct ROP exams and care for infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and nutritional risks.
Collaborate with physicians respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed ensuring accurate documentation in EPIC electronic medical records.
Float to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum units as needed to support baby care.
Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards.
Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain clinical competencies.
Required Skills & Certifications:
Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Minimum of 2 years of Level III NICU nursing experience.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills specific to neonatal care.
Proficient in electronic health record documentation (EPIC preferred).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Experience with high-risk neonates including prematurity and bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
Familiarity with neonatal respiratory support technologies and ROP examinations.
Previous float experience to maternity or postpartum units.
Special Considerations:
Four weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule.
Float assignments to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum units caring for babies.
Clinician may be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2-week period.
Strict scrub color policy: any color except reddish orange.
Remote or local candidates not accepted; no local hiring.
Must disclose all requested time off (RTO) at time of submission.
Does not provide care involving surgeries ostomies or tracheostomies.
Scheduling:
12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours except for one possible call-off per 2-week period.
Weekend coverage required: 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.
