Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Infusion/Oncology outpatient setting is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy immunotherapy and other infusion treatments. This role involves patient assessment administration of medications including subcutaneous injections therapeutic phlebotomy and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse will primarily care for oncology and hematology patients as well as a smaller portion of non-oncology patients requiring infusion therapies. Strong clinical expertise and certification in chemotherapy administration are essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide infusion nursing care to oncology hematology and non-oncology patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Administer chemotherapy immunotherapy and other prescribed infusions safely and accurately.
  • Perform patient assessments and monitor for adverse reactions during and after infusion treatments.
  • Administer subcutaneous injections and conduct therapeutic phlebotomy as required.
  • Collaborate with physicians pharmacists and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care treatments and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families regarding infusion procedures side effects and care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with oncology nursing standards and safety protocols.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in infusion nursing preferably in outpatient oncology or inpatient oncology settings.
  • Proficiency in subcutaneous injection techniques and therapeutic phlebotomy.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
  • Experience with a variety of infusion therapies including rheumatology gastroenterology neurology and pulmonology infusions.
Special Considerations:
  • Work primarily in an outpatient infusion center serving oncology and hematology patients.
  • Shifts may extend beyond scheduled hours to accommodate the last patients treatment completion.
  • No weekend or holiday shifts required.
Scheduling:
  • Monday through Friday 5 days a week 8-hour shifts.
  • Typical shift hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with start times between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM.
