Under the general supervision of the SHS Director of Operations and according to established protocol or direction of a physician physician assistant or nurse practitioner the Registered Nurse II (RN) performs a variety of skilled and professional nursing duties and provides triage services to students in a Student Health Center. Performs related work as required.

- Triages patients using thorough assessment skills and collaborates with clinical staff regarding patient care. Assesses emergencies or urgent problems and expedites treatment as necessary. Responsible for performing other skilled nursing duties which require specialized training judgment and skill.

This is a temporary hourly/intermittent position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
The salary range for this classification is $57 to $62.31 per hour.
This position is a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse who excels in patient assessment triage and the delivery of high-quality clinical care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. They possess strong clinical judgment and the ability to quickly evaluate emergent or urgent medical concerns determine appropriate interventions and coordinate care with physicians nurse practitioners physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. This individual is proficient in conducting comprehensive patient assessments developing nursing diagnoses administering treatments and medications performing specialized procedures such as IV therapy blood draws immunizations and diagnostic testing and maintaining accurate documentation within the electronic medical record system. They are committed to providing patient-centered care health education and follow-up support while ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols and standards.
In addition to direct patient care responsibilities the ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional organizational and leadership abilities by monitoring patient flow supporting clinical operations and contributing to the implementation of nursing policies procedures and quality improvement initiatives. They are comfortable providing guidance and training to nursing staff participating in accreditation and infection control activities maintaining equipment and regulatory compliance and fostering a collaborative team environment. With a strong commitment to continuous improvement professional development and student health and wellness the successful candidate serves as a dependable resource for both patients and colleagues while actively contributing to departmental and campus-wide initiatives.

Equivalent to one year of professional nursing experience required. Three years of experience preferred.
Possession of valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Possess and maintain valid CPR/AED certification required.
