About the NIHCS Facility
VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (NIHCS) was formed in 1995 by the integration of the VA Medical Centers in Fort Wayne and Marion Indiana. The mission of VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is to provide coordinated compassionate and comprehensive quality primary care mental health services and extended care to veterans in a timely accessible and cost-effective manner. The Fort Wayne Campus offers primary and secondary medical and surgical services and the Marion Campus offers a full range of psychiatry services nursing home care and extended care services. Primary care clinics are available at both campuses and at Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Peru Goshen South Bend and Muncie Indiana. Although the Marion Campus is well over 110 years old and the Fort Wayne Campus was constructed in 1950 recently completed renovations and construction and continuous maintenance ensure an attractive state-of-the-art healthcare environment.

RN CLC - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Community Living Center RN will serve as a staff nurse and will evaluate clinical practice and initiate change based on current concepts and findings from research and/or evidence-based studies.
- Performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures appropriate to the CLCs practice setting.
- The Community Living Center RN p rovides leadership in interpreting supporting and implementing Medical Center and Nursing Department philosophy policies procedures standards guidelines and quality improvement processes; accepting responsibility and maintaining accountability for actions and continued professional and personal growth.
- Serving as a consultant in clinical practice.
- Initiating and leading groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups.
- Establishing relationships with professional and/or health related groups within the community.
- Must have good organizational skills which enable completion of work.
- An ability to assume leadership duties.
- Ability to establish effective communication with residents families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- The Community Living Center RN s hould have a working understanding of cultural transformation creating a home-like environment a dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents and provide physical mental emotional and spiritual support and medical care for residents and/or significant others during the time surrounding death.
- Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
- Shall have a current license in at least one state territory or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
- Current certification in BLS and ACLS by an American Health Association Vendor.
- Must have a minimum of one year experience within the last three years.
