What you will do-

This position will be part of Aspens R&D department responsible for developingand supportingtechnical activities associated withcharacterizingand improvingthe performance ofaerogel-basedproducts. The R&D Engineer is provided input onobjectivesand goals by theManager ofAdvancedTestingandis responsible forexecuting routine and developmental testinganalyzingand documenting results and supporting technical problem-solving within R&D.A Research and Development Engineer is thus accountable for delivery of specificobjectivesfor projects in a professional andtimelymanner.A significantcomponentof this position is providingtimelyand reliable testing support for ongoing R&D programs while balancing assigned technical position should fit well for an energetic self-starter with a chemical material science and mechanical background who cantake ownership of assigned work proactively address obstacles and move activities toward enjoyhands onwork in a chemical labincluding materials testing equipment setup and support of prototype processing activities. The roleoperatesin a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and requires adaptability clear communication practical problem-solving and constructive collaboration across implementadvancedtestingcapabilities that can benchmark the performance ofdevelopmental aerogelproductsthusproviding the basis of technology translation from small to large positionalso supports the transfer of technologies developed within R&D toward manufacturing implementation.

How will you do it-

• Execute established testing methods accurately and efficiently to support routine and time-sensitive R&D needs.
• Balance routine testing support with method development and other assigned technical projects.
• Research and develop newand existingtestingmethodsto advance knowledge understanding and implementation of aerogel products and processes.
• Developqualifyand executethermal and mechanicaltestingmethods document and analyze results in written reports.
• Compilerefineandanalyzelargedata sets and identifysolutionsto complex problems.
• Comfortable withhands onwork with various mechanical toolspartsand equipment todevelop andassemblenon-standard testapparatus.
• Plan coordinate andexecute assigned technical activitiesunder the direction of theAdvanced TestingManager.
• Identifytechnical or operational obstacles develop practical solutions and proactively move work toward completion.
• Ensurethat criticaltesting equipmentis calibrated kept in good repair andoperatedaccording tosafe practices andnational standard codes.
• Design document and implement research activitiesin accordance withdefinedR&Ddeliverables.
• Contribute to theidentification oftechnical opportunitiesdevelopment ofresearch proposals andgeneration ofintellectual property.
• Supportcross-functional activities intended to meet corporateobjectives.
• Supportproject milestones metrics budgets andschedulefor proposed projects.
• Focus on instrumentation design measurement and control strategies for existing or new process equipment for aerogel processing.
• Work constructively with colleagues across R&D and other functions contributing to team effectiveness and broader organizational goals.

• Bachelors orMasters degree in Chemical Engineering MaterialsScience Chemistry MechanicalEngineeringor other related fields.
• Minimum of 2 years ofrelevantexperience inmaterials characterization and testingtest setup product development or process development or fundamental/applied research in process engineering related to materials processing.
• Ability to successfully manageandsupportvarious projects or activities independently and meet projecttimelinedeliverableand goals.
• Experience in implementation of bench to pilot scale-up activities.
• Ability toperformhands on developmentof testsystems engineeringdesignand experimentational work.
• Ability to workeffectivelyin a team setting environment and independently.
• Present research work to management or technical team. Share knowledgeinformationand work closely with scientists and engineers to solve complex research problems.
• Experience with material characterization dataanalysisand design of experiments.
• Experience with mechanical systems designs and lab equipment or general mechanical background is desirable.
• Excellent writtenoraland interpersonal skills.
• Motivated self-starter and proactively looking for improvements newknowledgeand solving technical challenges.
• Ability to work in afast-pacedenvironment and multitasks.
• Ensure safe laboratory operation follow safety requirementsparticipatein scheduled safety meetings and safety trainings.

• Occasionally works around fumes airborne particles or toxic chemicals
• Occasionally move and lift equipment more than 30 pounds.
• This position requires hands on work with PPE in a research laboratory working with chemicals tools and equipment to perform experimental activities.

Expected Compensation: Between $90000and $105000USD/year based on experience.
