Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Rail Operations and Maintenance Manager.  This position is available as a remote work option. 

Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Direct and oversee day-to-day rail operations to ensure safe reliable and efficient service.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures schedules and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate service delivery activities and respond to operational disruptions and emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FRA FTA OSHA and company regulations and standards.

Maintenance Management

  • Lead preventive predictive and corrective maintenance programs for rolling stock track signals facilities and related infrastructure.
  • Develop maintenance schedules and asset management strategies to maximize system reliability.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage maintenance planning resources inventory and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues affecting operations.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead mentor and develop operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Foster a culture centered on safety accountability teamwork and customer service.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee training and development.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and workforce planning to support operational requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture across all departments.
  • Lead investigations of incidents accidents and service disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements operating rules and maintenance standards.
  • Support audits inspections and regulatory reviews.

Budget & Strategic Planning

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Support capital improvement projects and long-term asset management planning.
  • Provide operational analysis and reporting to senior leadership.

  


Qualifications :

Minimum:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Transportation Operations Management Business or a related field and ten years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 2 years of leadership.

Preferred:

  • 7 years of progressive experience in rail operations maintenance or transportation management.
  • 3 years of leadership experience managing operational and/or maintenance teams.
  • Experience in rail systems rolling stock track infrastructure signal systems and maintenance practices.
  • Experience with safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in problem-solving analytical and decision-making 
  • Experience in passenger rail commuter rail light rail heavy rail or transit systems.
  • Professional certifications related to transportation maintenance safety or project management.
  • Familiarity with CMMS asset management systems and performance reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of FRA FTA OSHA and applicable transportation regulations.
