Quality Technician

Salt Lake City UT (Fully Onsite) or (Hybrid)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Quality Technician whose role involves applying quality engineering principles inspection methodologies and continuous improvement practices to ensure product and process quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.

In this position you will plan and execute receiving in-process and final inspections while partnering with Operations Engineering Supply Chain and Program teams to ensure compliance with customer regulatory and company requirements. You will also analyze quality data lead root cause investigations drive corrective and preventive actions and support supplier quality new product introductions and quality system improvements. Your technical expertise and commitment to continuous improvement will play a critical role in enhancing manufacturing performance maintaining ISO 9001 compliance and delivering high-quality products to customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Perform receiving in-process final and First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify materials and products comply with engineering drawings specifications customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Partner with Engineering Operations Supply Chain and Program teams to implement quality requirements support new product introductions process validations and supplier quality initiatives.
  • Lead investigations of nonconformances quality escapes and customer issues using root cause analysis while developing and verifying corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze quality metrics inspection results and manufacturing performance trends to identify risks reduce defects improve product reliability and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining quality records inspection documentation and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide quality engineering expertise and guidance to manufacturing and cross-functional teams while supporting customer quality activities and driving operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality Manufacturing Industrial Engineering or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education certifications and relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting quality systems within a manufacturing aerospace electronics or other regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems and experience performing receiving in-process final and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous improvement using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality data identify trends improve product and process performance and apply statistical quality tools.
  • Strong communication organizational and collaboration skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality-related business systems along with the ability to work independently and influence cross-functional teams.

Special Position Requirements

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or a similar quality certification.
    Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards and electronics manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems including PeopleSoft SAP or equivalent enterprise systems.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality activities customer quality investigations and corrective action initiatives.
  • Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Green Belt or other continuous improvement training and experience.
    Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and/or internationally as needed to support business requirements.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target is between


Total Target Cash (TTC) 58073.82 - 110855.15 USD Annual

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including but not limited to the employees career path history competencies skills and performance as well as the companys annual salary budget the customers program requirements and the companys internal equity.
