Job Summary
Job Description
- Perform incoming inspection of machined parts PCBAs COTS and raw materials against purchase orders engineering drawings and applicable specifications; accept reject or place on hold per internal receiving procedures.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections of avionics assemblies (transponders IFF units ACAS/DAA modules) using visual inspection criteria IPC-A-610 workmanship standards and dimensional measurement tools (calipers micrometers go/no-go gauges).
- Perform counterfeit parts inspection and verification per AS6081; confirm certificate of conformance (CoC) documentation and traceability for suspect or high-risk components.
- Support first article inspection (FAI) activities; verify dimensional material and functional requirements against design documentation.
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
- Initiate document and track nonconformance reports (NCRs) and material review board (MRB) dispositions; ensure nonconforming material is properly identified segregated and controlled per internal procedures.
- Support supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) by gathering objective evidence documenting findings and tracking closure in coordination with Supply Chain and Engineering.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations; apply structured problem-solving methods (5-Why fishbone) to identify escape mechanisms and prevent recurrence.
Quality System & Documentation
- Complete inspection travelers to document product acceptance
- Ensure quality records are complete accurate and performed in a timely fashion in compliance with Sagetechs AS9100D quality system; maintain full product traceability from receiving through shipment.
- Support internal customer and certification body audits; DCMA/customer source inspection activities; assist in preparation of objective evidence packages and corrective action responses.
- Handle controlled hardware and technical data in accordance with ITAR/EAR requirements; maintain proper custody and control of age-sensitive and shelf-life materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years of quality inspection or quality technician experience in an electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with dimensional measurement tools (e.g. calipers micrometers go/no-go gauges) and visual inspection to IPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
- Working knowledge of nonconformance control MRB disposition and corrective action processes in an AS9100D or ISO 9001 environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings BOMs specifications and work instructions; meticulous attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Working knowledge of ESD controls and safe handling of sensitive electronic assemblies; working knowledge of FOD and FOD prevention programs.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (ITAR/EAR)
- Aerospace or defense electronics manufacturing experience (AS9100D environment).
- IPC-A-610 CIS or CIT certification; IPC J-STD-001 CIS or CIT a plus.
- Familiarity with DCMA source inspection processes and government quality oversight.
- Experience with counterfeit parts detection and avoidance (AS6081 / AS5553).
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Quality Technician (CQT).
Hourly rate: $28.00 $34.00 based on experience.
