Position Summary
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for leading manufacturing quality activities and maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) for the production of custom-engineered oil-filled distribution transformers. This position provides technical leadership for product quality process quality nonconformance management root cause analysis corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.
The role serves as a key liaison between Engineering Manufacturing Supply Chain and Customers to ensure products meet design requirements customer specifications applicable industry standards and company quality objectives. The Senior Quality Control Engineer is expected to drive quality excellence in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing environment while supporting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop implement and maintain inspection and test plans for transformer manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings manufacturing specifications customer requirements and quality standards.
- Monitor manufacturing quality performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Review and disposition nonconforming materials components and finished products.
- Lead containment activities for quality-related production issues.
- Analyze quality trends and recommend corrective actions to improve product conformity and process capability.
- Support final inspections customer inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
- Develop and revise quality procedures work instructions forms and records.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits performed by customers registrars and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor corrective and preventive action (CAPA) effectiveness.
- Participate in management review activities and quality system improvement initiatives as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Quality Manufacturing Industrial Technology or related technical discipline.
- 5 years experience in quality engineering quality assurance or similar required.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing quality principles.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality tools including FMEA Control Plans SPC MSA and CAPA.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience with product adherence to ISO ASME ASTM and IEEE standards procedures and regulations through appropriate quality tests.
- Previous oversight of the maintenance of quality documentation such as SOPs Quality Log Quality Alerts and Customer Service documents.
- Preferred Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA); Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt; ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification.
- Understanding of transformer manufacturing processes and/or electrical equipment assembly is a plus.
