Job Summary
Schedule: 8am-5pm MondayFriday Overtime Available
Pay:$18-20/hour (Based on Experience)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support our steel fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for inspecting materials and finished products performing mechanical testing maintaining quality documentation and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in delivering quality products every time.
- Verify steel materials against purchase orders and Mill Test Reports (MTRs).
- Confirm material grades dimensions heat numbers and traceability requirements.
- Identify document and segregate nonconforming materials.
- Conduct dimensional inspections throughout fabrication.
- Verify fit-up assembly and workmanship requirements.
- Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Perform final dimensional and visual inspections.
- Verify products meet customer drawings specifications labeling and packaging requirements.
- Ensure complete traceability prior to shipment.
- Perform tensile testing according to ASTM and customer requirements.
- Prepare test specimens and accurately document results.
- Maintain sample traceability and communicate nonconforming results to Quality Management.
- Safely operate stand-up forklifts.
- Pick stage move and store materials.
- Maintain material identification and inventory accuracy.
- Complete daily forklift inspections and report equipment concerns.
- Complete inspection reports and quality documentation accurately.
- Assist with nonconformance reporting and corrective action activities.
- Maintain organized inspection logs and records.
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read tape measures calipers micrometers and inspection equipment
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial environment
Reliable attendance and professional communication skills
- Previous Quality Control experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing
- Experience performing mechanical testing
- Forklift experience or certification
- Familiarity with quality systems ASTM standards and MTR documentation
