Purchasing Assistant

Purchasing AssistantPrimary Functions: Assist the Purchasing Department in the day-to-day purchasing activities.

Purchasing Assistant Major Responsibility:

1. Receive Dock Appointments
2. Process paperwork for all inbound loads/outbound return paperwork
3. Enter Purchase orders
4. Price Validations of Supplier loads
5. Accurately file invoices and payments in online database
6. Supplier Bill Backs
7. Monitor inbound overseas shipment containers
8. Counts and adjusts Inventory supplies
9. Approve for payment supplier invoices
10. Correct and follow up on shipping and pricing errors.

1. Computer Literate (Excel skills needed)
2. Ability to do 10 key entry
3. Must have high math aptitude
4. High school diploma minimumAssociates or Bachelors degree preferred.
5. Must be people-oriented person who can be flexible with workload demand
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Office work experience preferred.

Chicago native Larry Gary settled in Hastings MI where he owned and operated a bowling 1963 Larry and his wife Joan decided a change was in order; they moved to the Grand Rapids area where Larry founded Kent Beverage.

Detroit native Tim Sullivan along with his brother Mike founded Sullivan Brothers Construction on the east side of the state. However after seeing his friends thrive in the beer distribution business Tim decided to make a change purchasing Grand Rapids B&B Beer in 1977.

Both companies grew and flourished passing from one generation to the next each strengthening its roots in Michigan. Eventually over a shared pint the Gary and Sullivan families envisioned a stronger future together. On May 13 2013 Kent Beverage and B&B Beer merged forming Alliance Beveragea company committed to being the Preferred Distributor for everyone it interacts with.
