Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Clinic Pulmonary Function Tech you will be responsible for performing pulmonary function lung-capacity diffusion capacity and blood/oxygen tests to gather data for use by a physician in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders. Your work is performed within the scope of licensure and in accordance with physician orders.

Every day this includes administering pulmonary function testing and procedures on patients with suspected lung disorders administering medications pertinent to pulmonary function testing and calibrating maintaining and troubleshooting pulmonary function testing equipment to assure proper operation. Your work requires knowledge of the standards procedures and equipment/tools applicable to pulmonary function testing and applicable legal/regulatory requirements. You will follow proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need referral to management.

To be successful in your role you will meticulously perform pulmonary function lung-capacity diffusion capacity and blood/oxygen tests adhering strictly to physician orders and the scope of licensure. You will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency in administering tests and medications diligently calibrating and troubleshooting equipment and applying profound knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure accurate data collection crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders.

  • Performs standardized diagnostic pulmonary function studies as directed by physician orders and in accordance with all safety risk management and protocol standards.
    Process patient samples as required with regard to requested tests and type of insurance.
  • Assists physician with other procedures as appropriate within scope of licensure/certification.
    May assist physicians with thoracentesis.
  • Maintains pulmonary function testing equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Works with authorized parties to satisfy requests for documentation.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication collaboration and the provision of care treatment and services. Patient Population Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the departments defined specific populations served.
Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy and 1-3 years One year of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: WA
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

  • Work experience in the specialty area
