Psychologist

Westchester Medical Center is seeking a compassionate collaborative and clinically skilled Psychologist specializing in Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Inpatient Psychiatry. This position is an integral member of our multidisciplinary behavioral health team providing assessment treatment and care planning for adolescents and young adults experiencing acute psychiatric crises. Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments diagnostic evaluations and suicide/self-harm risk assessments.
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral management for high-risk patients.
• Lead evidence-based psychotherapy groups including CBT DBT skills emotion regulation trauma-informed care substance use recovery and resilience-building.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists nurses social workers counselors and other treatment team members to develop individualized care plans.
• Support families through consultation psychoeducation and transition planning.
• Supervise psychology trainees and participate in teaching program development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology Child Clinical Psychology Counseling Psychology or related field from an APA-accredited program.
• Licensed Psychologist (or licensure-eligible within institutional timelines).
• Experience working with adolescents and young adults.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and facilitating psychotherapy groups.
• Strong multidisciplinary team collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience in inpatient psychiatry emergency psychiatry residential partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient settings.
• Advanced training in DBT CBT Trauma-Focused CBT ACT CAMS and/or ASD-related interventions.
• Experience supervising psychology trainees.
• Interest in teaching scholarship and program development within an academic medical center.
