Position Overview

Our project safety assistants are responsible for project-wide safety and health administration including developing specific on-site safety programs performing safety audits leading accident investigations administering first aid when necessary training personnel and keeping project safety records.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers Vaughns and Owners safety program requirements.
• Helps to develop specific on-site programs as required.
• Performs site audits for unsafe practices and conditions makes recommendations and/or knows specific regulation on proper corrections.
• Leads/performs accident investigations.
• Trains personnel on proper safety procedures.
• Reports workers compensation claims and performs onsite workers compensation claims administration for Vaughn employees and trade contractor employees injuries.
• Performs record keeping/document control for HAZCOM training etc. including various reports to Owner.
• Assists in developing and maintain hazard analysis documentation.
• Administers first aid CPR AED when necessary.
• Stays current on safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and services to ensure project is delivered successfully and client is satisfied.
• Maintains excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education and Training

• Minimum of six years of experience in construction safety with a minimum of five years in building construction safety.
• Current OSHA 510 training within four years.
• Current emergency first aid CPR AED training within two years.
• Working knowledge experience and documented continuing education in fall protection scaffolds excavation confined space crane/equipment operations electrical and incident investigation.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Ability to deal with a variety of people from craft workers to project Owners.
• Ability to maintain credibility with appropriate audiences each day.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be bi-lingual or have means to translate between English and Spanish.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office Email PDF.
