About this Role:

The Project Manager Transmission & Substation Programs will support the planning coordination execution and delivery of complex electric utility capital projects for a major Southern California electric utility.

This role will work closely with engineering construction project controls operations environmental permitting procurement contractors consultants and utility stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely efficiently and in alignment with established scope schedule budget quality and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background managing electric utility transmission substation power delivery or other major infrastructure projects and is comfortable working within a highly regulated and technically complex project environment.

This position requires on-site presence in Pomona California on Mondays and Tuesdays with additional attendance required for engineering job walks field visits project meetings and other project needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Delivery

  • Manage electric utility transmission and substation projects throughout the project lifecycle including planning engineering procurement construction commissioning and closeout.
  • Manage and coordinate project scope schedule budget risks resources milestones and deliverables across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans milestone schedules action-item logs risk registers and project status reporting.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects or workstreams while maintaining project priorities deadlines quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Monitor overall project performance and proactively identify schedule cost scope resource and execution risks.

Engineering & Construction Coordination

  • Partner with engineering construction operations project controls environmental permitting procurement and other functional teams throughout project execution.
  • Participate in engineering job walks field visits construction coordination meetings project reviews and other site activities as required.
  • Review project documentation engineering deliverables contractor information project schedules cost reports change requests and related project materials.
  • Coordinate with engineers contractors consultants construction teams and utility stakeholders to address project issues and maintain alignment across project teams.
  • Support projects through engineering procurement construction commissioning and final closeout activities.

Cost Schedule Risk & Change Management

  • Monitor project performance against established scope schedule budget and project objectives.
  • Identify potential project risks and support the development and implementation of appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Support project forecasting budget management change management issue resolution and overall project performance.
  • Coordinate with project controls professionals to support accurate cost schedule forecasting and performance information.
  • Review and evaluate project changes and their potential impacts to scope schedule budget resources and project execution.

Stakeholder & Project Communications

  • Facilitate project meetings and coordinate follow-up activities with project teams contractors consultants and utility stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status risks issues key decisions and recommendations clearly to project and program leadership.
  • Maintain effective communication across technical and non-technical project stakeholders.
  • Support timely resolution of project issues while maintaining alignment with client expectations and project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain clear and accurate project status reporting and supporting documentation.

Safety Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with applicable utility standards safety requirements contractual requirements and established project management procedures.
  • Support compliance with project-specific engineering construction environmental permitting and quality requirements.
  • Promote safe project execution during field visits engineering job walks construction activities and project coordination efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of project management experience supporting complex capital infrastructure engineering construction or utility projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving multiple technical disciplines and internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Experience managing project scope schedule cost risk change resources and project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering and construction project lifecycle.
  • Experience coordinating with engineers contractors construction teams project controls professionals consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects priorities or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong written verbal organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams contractors clients and project leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to work on-site in Pomona California on Mondays and Tuesdays and attend project sites engineering job walks meetings and other project activities as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting electric utility transmission and/or substation projects.
  • Previous experience working with Southern California Edison (SCE) or another investor-owned electric utility.
  • Experience managing transmission distribution substation power delivery or related utility capital programs.
  • Knowledge of utility engineering procurement construction commissioning permitting and project closeout processes.
  • Experience working within a Project Management Office (PMO) or large capital improvement program.
  • Experience supporting complex multi-stakeholder utility or infrastructure programs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar professional credential.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Project Management Business or a related field.

Working Hours & Location:

Full-time Exempt. This position follows a hybrid work schedule with required on-site attendance in Pomona California on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Additional field visits engineering job walks construction coordination activities project meetings and other site attendance may be required depending on project needs.

Candidates should be comfortable working in both office and active project-site environments.

Compensation Range: $125000 - $143000 annually plus yearly bonus
