Role Overview
The Project Manager leads or coordinates construction projects such as developing a new facility; the addition expansion or extension of an existing facility; or renovation and alterations to a facility in collaboration with the project team construction site and management. Develops assignments timetables and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project. Organizes and directs construction personnel and ensures that materials and equipment resources are delivered on time.
This role may be filled at varying levels from Project Manager through Senior Project Manager based on the candidates skills experience and overall qualifications. Final job title scope of responsibility and compensation will be determined accordingly.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive the successful completion of high-quality projects within specified timelines and budgets. Proactively manage scope changes conduct thorough material assessments and negotiate contracts to ensure project success.
- Review various reports to determine project status and the actions required and provide periodic status and end-of-contract cost and budget analysis.
- Facilitate and participate in project meetings to align with customer expectations and company standards and lead pre-job planning sessions to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements among team members.
- Establish and execute subcontracts and equipment buy-outs to support schedules and budgets.
- Assemble and estimate projects review the final estimate and ensure the proper loading of those numbers into the project cost system.
- Communicate all project issues to the appropriate level of management in a timely manner.
- Document planning meeting results and ensure all action items are completed. Develop and keep current all project schedules ensure they mesh with the master project schedule and resolve conflicts when they occur.
- Prepare and submit monthly contract billings to ensure proper cash flow during contract performance and protect the companys interest by managing all financial aspects of the contract. Complete project closeout and inactivation within the prescribed period including final project billing to obtain full funding.
- Manage conflict resolution with customers vendors trades or Partners. At the senior level lead and manage other project managers providing leadership and sharing technical expertise and experience with other Partners.
- Identify and develop policies and procedures for continuous aggressive improvement.
- Visit job sites or onsite offices perform work inspections check job progress and resolve project and contract issues.
Required Background
- Bachelors degree in Construction Sciences Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of project management experience required; candidates with 7 years of proven experience leading projects and programs with a commercial mechanical subcontractor will be considered for the Senior Project Manager level
- Demonstrated success leading projects and programs on schedule and within budget
