Project Manager Electric Distribution

As a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager youll lead electric distribution design and engineering programs supporting local utility distribution system. This is a programâbased role not a oneâoff project positionyoull oversee a steady pipeline of distribution work that keeps the electric grid reliable modern and ready for future demand.

Youll partner closely with utility stakeholders internal engineering and design teams and external agencies to deliver highâquality workon time on budget and in line with client standards.

What youll be responsible for

This role blends project delivery client partnership and team leadership.

• Lead a portfolio of electric distribution design projects and programs including overhead and underground work system upgrades and modernization efforts
• Own scope schedule budget quality and risk across multiple concurrent projects
• Serve as a primary point of contact for the client building trusted relationships through clear communication and consistent delivery
• Coordinate work across designers engineers and technical leads ensuring teams have clear priorities and direction
• Oversee project financials including forecasting fee tracking and change management
• Ensure work complies with industry and client standards permitting requirements and regulatory expectations
• Support permitting and thirdâparty coordination efforts (municipalities DOTs jointâuse utilities) as needed
• Provide construction support and help resolve designârelated issues during build
• For Senior PMs: mentor other PMs and technical leads help shape program strategy and support growth of the client account

The types of programs youll support

Your work may span several ongoing distribution initiatives such as:

• Highâvolume distribution design programs (repeatable work with defined standards and workflows)
• Voltage Optimization (VO) initiatives focused on system performance and efficiency
• Distribution Automation (DA) projects including device upgrades and grid modernization
• Municipalityâ and DOTâdriven relocations tied to roadway and infrastructure improvements

These programs are longâterm fastâmoving and highly collaborativeideal for PMs who enjoy structure variety and visible impact.

Heres what youll need:

• Project management experience supporting electric distribution or utility infrastructure programs or other engineering/construction related spaces
• Experience managing scope schedule and budget in a consulting or utilityâfacing environment
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with utility clients
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to lead crossâfunctional teams and keep work moving in a deadlineâdriven environment
• Proficiency in forecasting and financial management especially in a Fixed Fee and Unitized platform.
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards regulatory requirements and technical innovations.

Nice to have:

• Prior experience working with large electric utilities
• Familiarity with distribution design workflows permitting and construction support
• Experience managing programâbased or unitized work
• PMP or similar certification
