PROJECT ENGINEER The Nuclear Reactor Laboratory will be responsible for a wide range of experimental design operation and data-taking activities supporting the primary research mission of the Nuclear Reactor Laboratory. Position includes both independent and team activities and coordination of multiple research-related projects; creating and maintaining CAD models to support NRL research and experiment design irradiation facility upgrades publications and laboratory facilities planning; performing work utilizing safe practices in designated lab areas including industrial hazards radiation areas radioactive contamination areas and utilizing a nuclear reactor; working in coordination with other NRL staff and students on experiments and associated research facilities construction operations and disposal; conducting post-irradiation handling and examination of samples including hot cells and glove boxes; assessing equipment needs and schedules maintenance and repairs of equipment and stocking of supplies; and performing basic analysis of experiment data ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality assurance protocols.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in Engineering Applied Sciences or related technical field; a minimum of two years of related experience in a research environment; excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills; and be able and willing to work appropriately without supervision in regulated laboratory radiation and contamination environments. PREFERRED: Experience drafting and producing fabrication drawings; Masters degree.
