Job Summary
Basic Job Assignment:Under general direction of the Head Start Coordinator sustain system-wide tracking and monitoring of all Head Start classrooms to ensure implementation of CLASS assessments and classroom monitoring throughout the recipient program including subrecipients and partners. Consistent with our CLASS program this position works to promote system-wide high-quality classroom interactions and CLASS Intensive Coaching CLASS Environment and performs related work as assigned by the Sr. Program Specialist. Adheres to the core values of the Agency and NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct for Early Childhood Practitioners Professional Practice Head Start Program Performance Standards required Head Start Competencies professional ethics and other relevant professional codes. Familiarity with other professional development Requirements:Desired Minimum Qualifications:The level and scope of the knowledge and abilities listed vary according to the levels listed in the Training and Experience section of:Must have 2nd Edition Pre-K to 3rd Grade CLASS CLASS Environment and Teachstone Associate Trainer certifications or obtain certification within six (6) theories methods and practices of early childhood education and child development; modern theories methods and practices of assigned areas of responsibility and expertise including early childhood education social services emotional and/or physical health and learning and/or physical disabilities;Federal state and local laws and regulations applicable to the Head Start program and the assigned areas of responsibility and expertise; Head Start Program Performance Standards; goals objectives policies and procedures of the NHA Head Start program;Modern theories principles and practices of supervision including training and staff to:Organize set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment; interpret apply explain and reach sound decisions in accordance with program regulations policies and procedures;Instruct and train individuals in a group setting and one-on-one;Communicate effectively orally and in writing; prepare clear concise and accurate reports correspondence and other written materials;Exercise tact objectivity sensitivity strategy and judgment in dealing with volunteers parents and Skills:Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public. Ability to speak a second language is desirable such as Spanish or Skills:Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule :Education Training and Experience:The following are typical ways of obtaining the knowledge skills and abilities outlined above. A bachelors degree in early childhood education or child development or a closely related Human Services field is required; and one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience providing direct services to low-income children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds. LICENSES CERTIFICATES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust have a valid California Drivers License. Certification in pediatric first aid CPR must be met within 90 days of employment. Must meet and maintain state law and county licensing requirements regarding employment in a childcare center (fingerprints TB physical immunizations).Examples of Major Job Functions:The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to this NHA systemwide CLASS Plan implementation and monitoring;Provide CLASS Intensive Coaching (CIC) and mentoring to classroom teachers and other classroom staff as appropriate;Conduct CLASS observations based on 2nd Edition Pre-K to 3rd Grade CLASS and CLASS Environment observations for Head Start programs systemwide (pre and post);Participate and train on CLASS calibration and interrater reliability;Provide Pre-Service In-service and Staff Development Day training in multiple areas and training support ;Provide focused classroom observations feedback modeling demonstrations and problem-solving;Support and assist sites and program administration to identify and implement instructional strategies to meet the School Readiness Goals (SRGs) for children;Acts as an informational resource for Practice Based Coaching (PBC);Conduct teacher self-assessment and provide focused classroom observations to assess staff progress in the areas of skill building;Interprets provisions of the Head Start Performance Standards for staff; provides in-service and pre-service training; andOther duties as assigned.
