Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth families seniors and homeless prevention.
This initiative connects families to food resources such as SNAP WIC and emergency food programs. The program promotes food security by helping individuals overcome eligibility and access challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be able to travel between multiple Food Pantry sites to assist with distribution.
Provide general outreach and promotion for program (outdoor and indoor)
Provide office support including clerical filing faxing scanning typing photocopying and sorting mail
Answer telephones and offer other office support when necessary
Report to and meet with supervisor on a weekly basis or as determined
Perform additional duties as assigned
Program Specific Responsibilities
Become knowledgeable of every component and service offered by the CMCC Food Pantry
Provide assistance with all Food Pantry activities such as lifting boxes sorting food assisting with inventory management and crowd control.
Complete data entry for Food Pantry clients
Greet clients and schedule appointments for them to receive services
Provide Case Assistance and Information and Referral Services
Track internal referrals and act as program contact person for inquiries concerning clients.
Maintain familiarity with program resources available on and off-site.
Complete program reports monthly or more frequently as required.
Maintain familiarity with agency and city resources available to clients
Report to and meet with supervisor monthly.
Create and distribute informational materials and flyers in targeted (and other) communities in the Bronx to promote services events and other special functions
Refer clients to an appropriate program for enrollment services
Follow up on referrals made on behalf of clients both internal and external
Update bulletin boards and flyers to reflect the monthly calendar of activities.
Provide direct services to clients including intake engagement assessment referral and follow-up.
Assist with special projects as required
Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers laptops cell phones tablets Ipads electronic mail voicemail facsimile and copier equipment
Proficiency in English required; proficiency in Bengali Spanish or French is preferred
Strong organizational interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
Drivers License preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
