The Program Assistant II position provides clerical and administrative support to the Fred Hutch Pathology Department. This position is at all times a courteous and polite representative of the Pathology Department and provides excellent customer service to our clients on the phone as well as clients that enter the department seeking assistance. This role is focused on accessioning cases and slide management but may also perform general front desk (receptionist) duties. This position carries-out routine special assignments or projects in addition to performing clerical responsibilities.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 am 5:00 pm Fully Onsite in Downtown South Lake Union

Responsibilities
  • File pathology blocks and slides
  • Open deliveries and verify package contents
  • Order receive and put away supplies
  • Accession slide Review cases
  • Prepare department schedules
  • Receive and process packages from UWMC and HMC
  • Complete slide returns
  • Send pathology materials to UWMC and HMC laboratories
  • Triage phone calls
  • Loan out pathology materials
  • Prepare and ship Seattle Childrens slides and billing details
  • Respond to Epic In Basket messages
  • Monitor shared Pathstaff email box
  • Manage Materials Needing Follow-up box
  • Accession Consult cases
  • Register Patients
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Under general supervision ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person on the phone and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to use a mouse navigate computer programs enter data into computer systems in accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to work in a fast paced complex healthcare environment
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with patients families staff and providers

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated customer service skills
The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.72 to $36.62 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
