There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races. Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

Job Summary:
The Youth Enrichment Assistant is an indispensable member of the team supporting the Manager of the Youth Enrichment Program. This role requires a dynamic individual who is not only organized but also passionate about creating a vibrant and engaging environment for young participants. The Assistant plays a crucial role in preparing an array of programs services and resources ensuring everything is set to inspire and energize youth every session. On a daily basis they engage with caretakers and other key stakeholders skillfully addressing inquiries regarding the diverse services available. Their self-motivated and spirited demeanor allows them to keep stride with our enthusiastic participants whose ages range from six to eighteen. They take pride in assisting with the registration process tracking attendance and handling various data entry tasks all while fostering a welcoming atmosphere. When field trips and excursions take place the Assistant is not just a chaperone; they are a vigilant guardian employing sharp observation skills to ensure the safety and well-being of each young participant. Their commitment to maintaining a secure and enjoyable environment is paramount. Moreover this position presents exciting opportunities for professional development allowing the Assistant to hone their skills and advance within the program. Essential Duties:
Assists and ensures all program activities are ready to be implemented and provides feedback to the manager or coordinator as needed. They also help to promote and uphold safety policies and conduct to ensure safe environments for all. 40%
Actively engages with caretakers and other stakeholders and helps with attendance registration for activities and membership. On occasion may help with outreach and recruitment efforts. 30%
Helps the coordinator or manager in administrative tasks such as scheduling data collection work orders. 10%
Actively engages with program participants to understand and report community needs. 10%

Education:
High School Diploma.
Experience:
One or more years in program delivery preferably in a community center setting working with elementary to high school youth.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates through their work experience a commitment to serve youth through quality-based programs.
Can work independently on tasks with little supervision and sets priorities.
Ability to use Microsoft office Suite.
Knowledge of office coordination use of printers and overall office etiquette.

- General Information
Work Environment:
This role is located in a community center with normal business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However it may require to occasionally work evenings and weekends for special events.
Physical Demands:
Able to lift move 25 lbs. or more.
Actively move throughout the day and around the community center to ensure programs and operations are running smoothly and triage any issues.
