Job Duties

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Administrator in the Directors Office of our Bureau of Field Operations (BFO) located in Salem Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Managing and advancing the daily and long-term objectives and outreach of the Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO) program.
Supervising salaried and wage staff in the development creation and implementation of all YOVASO youth activities projects training opportunities and external communications.
Identifying strategies and providing guidance to staff in developing and implementing appropriate YOVASO projects and materials.
Ensuring all DMV-established grant deadlines for purchasing and reporting are prioritized and met.
Coordinating within BFO the implementation of YOVASO programs and services for the Department.
Maintaining liaison with school and traffic safety groups.
Responsible for all grant management tasks and staff development leadership and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

Considerable knowledge of grants program management public relations matters the use of social media and effective techniques to engage with youth.
Knowledge of general financial management principles and practices budgetary principles and grant management.

Skill:

Working skills in the use of a personal computer to include Microsoft Office applications and other program-related software.

Ability:

To communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
To organize and present ideas materials and concepts creatively.
To set and meet deadlines.
To interpret and apply policy and procedures.

Additional Considerations

Experience with youth programs preferred.
Experience in the development and presentation of highway safety material to diverse groups preferred.
