Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing the daily operations of assigned production teams to ensure the safe efficient and timely manufacture of high-quality products. This role provides frontline leadership for production associates coordinates workflow monitors production performance and drives continuous improvement while fostering a culture of safety accountability quality and employee engagement.

The Production Supervisor oversees manufacturing operations including fabrication assembly material handling inventory control shipping and receiving support equipment utilization and workforce management. This position is responsible for ensuring production schedules are achieved while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements company policies customer specifications and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Success in this role requires strong leadership sound decision-making effective communication problem-solving skills and the ability to develop employees while driving operational excellence. The Production Supervisor is expected to build a high-performing team through coaching training accountability and continuous improvement initiatives that support WireCos commitment to quality customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead supervise coach and develop production employees to achieve safety quality productivity and customer service objectives.
  • Provide daily direction work assignments and production priorities for assigned team members.
  • Foster a positive respectful and accountable work environment aligned with WireCo values and WBS behaviors.
  • Conduct employee training cross-training coaching performance evaluations and ongoing development activities.
  • Monitor attendance scheduling overtime and workforce utilization.
  • Address employee performance concerns promptly through coaching corrective action and recognition programs.
  • Participate in interviewing hiring onboarding and succession planning activities.
  • Promote employee engagement and encourage participation in continuous improvement initiatives.

Production Operations

  • Coordinate daily production activities to meet production schedules quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor production performance labor utilization downtime scrap and efficiency metrics.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and qualified to perform assigned work safely and effectively.
  • Balance staffing and resources to meet changing production priorities.
  • Coordinate production flow with planning maintenance quality warehouse shipping and other departments.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and coordinate equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support production startups changeovers and new product introductions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations company safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Conduct routine safety observations audits and incident investigations.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately address unsafe behaviors and hazardous conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company procedures.

Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements standard operating procedures and documented work instructions.
  • Verify production processes consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Review production documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure nonconforming material is properly identified contained documented and dispositioned.
  • Partner with Quality to investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Inventory Materials & Shipping

  • Coordinate material flow to support uninterrupted production.
  • Ensure accurate inventory transactions and material traceability.
  • Monitor raw material availability and communicate shortages.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure proper storage handling and identification of materials throughout the manufacturing process.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing 5S Kaizen waste reduction and process improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze production performance data and identify opportunities to improve safety quality productivity and cost.
  • Implement standardized work practices and drive operational discipline.
  • Encourage employee involvement in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support new equipment implementation and process improvements.

Communication & Reporting

  • Conduct daily production meetings and shift handoffs.
  • Communicate production priorities schedule changes safety information and operational updates.
  • Maintain accurate production reports labor records downtime documentation and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with leadership to achieve operational objectives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises production employees assigned to the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring onboarding training coaching scheduling performance management disciplinary actions employee development and recognition.
  • Builds a culture focused on accountability engagement continuous improvement teamwork and operational excellence.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications

  •  A high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience including at least two (2) years in a lead team lead trainer or supervisory leadership role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operations production scheduling and workforce management.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing 5S continuous improvement and waste reduction principles.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules engineering drawings work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams manage priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering Business Operations Management or related discipline.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressive manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple production lines shifts or departments.
  • Experience in fabrication wire rope cable metals industrial manufacturing or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification.
  • Forklift certification and experience with material handling equipment.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards or SAP.

  • Personal protective equipment including safety glasses hearing protection gloves and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Production equipment including cut track swager press coiler hoist forklifts cranes and associated manufacturing equipment.
  • Computers ERP systems production reporting software scanners and inventory management systems.
  • Measuring devices including ring gauges hardness testers tape measures micrometers dial calipers proof loaders and other quality inspection equipment.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout a manufacturing facility during a 1012-hour shift.
  • Frequently lift carry push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend squat kneel climb reach twist and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures elevated noise levels and typical industrial manufacturing conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate or oversee production equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
