A Day in the Life:
The Production Supervisor Rail Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of all rail operations including monitoring the loading and unloading of railcars to ensure safety and efficiency communication between the plant and railroad and billing of conjunction with Production Management they will lead a team of Distribution Technicians and serve on various cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in rail yard operations along with previous supervisory experience.
What Youll Be Doing:
- Demonstrates a commitment to supply safe food maintain a food safety culture within the site continually improve the sites food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates with Production and Logistics to develop and update daily schedules.
- Maintains communications with the railroad and assists with arriving and departing rail cars.
- Ensures safe and efficient loading unloading and PGIing to and from rail cars is accomplished.
- Coordinates the movement & staging of cars in the rail yard according to shipping and receiving plans.
- Ensures rail car inspections are done prior to loading.
- Confirms that rail scale car scanner OneWeigh and SAP are working correctly for PGIing of cars.
- Ensures seals are properly documented and input into OneWeigh/SAP.
- Guarantees proper billing has been placed on all cars placed to be picked up
- Assists in planning and overseeing regular equipment maintenance and repair to ensure rail yard efficiency

Skills/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associates Degree in industrial operations engineering or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in rail yard operations.
- Prior supervision experience is preferred.
- Self-Starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven leader with the capability to influence and drive change while fostering accountability.
- Skillful in completing reports business correspondence and procedural documents.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Efficient in defining problems collecting data establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts proportions and percentages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) is required; Experience with Microsoft 365 is preferred.
- Prior experience with SAP is preferred.
- Must be able to work occasional nights weekends on-call time as needed in addition to the standard 40-hour work week.
